There is ample evidence to indicate that we would be much better off pursuing a more spartan, free-market, and conservative approach to government spending. And when it comes to the taxes that purportedly pay for everything, truth be told, the biggest offender of them all, the federal income tax, doesn't really fund our precious porkbarrel projects at all. The IRS was created in 1913, right after the creation of the Federal Reserve, and its primarily purpose was (and remains) to take money from the citizens to cover the interest on the ever-burgeoning national debt -- the monopoly-money borrowed from the Fed in the government's perennial quest to placate the big-spenders in Congress and the math-challenged nincompoops who put them into office.
